Ms. Classic United America 2008 - Belinda Todd
Belinda is the newly crowned Ms. Classic United America. She is so honored and excited to hold this title! Belinda also won the pageantry spirit award in October in Austin, Texas. Belinda is happily married to her husband Alan, and has a seal point cat ”Holley Noel” and a cockatiel “Robin” who resides in Herrin, Illinois. Her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter live nearby.
She holds a degree in nursing and is currently employed as a surgical registered nurse by a nationwide healthcare company. Education is important to her as she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was honored to be on the Dean’s List and President’s list every semester. She has held high regards for the outcome of patient care, patient advocacy and continues to strive for the highest qualities and safety of patients. She is a well rounded healthcare professional as she has worked in surgery, cardiac step-down unit, obstetrics and gynecology, intensive care unit and has held supervisory and administrative positions in her career. She knew she wanted to become a nurse at the age of 17 as she lost her father to a heart attack at the age of 45. This left an astounding impact on her to become a health care professional and to educate people on heart health. This led her to become a certified cardio-pulmonary resuscitation instructor and hopefully save a life by teaching this valuable skill. She has also assisted with over 20,000 people regaining their vision through cataract and retina surgeries.
In her spare time, Belinda has visited the Veteran’s Hospital numerous times including one of the favorites, Valentines for Veterans, has performed dance exhibitions for nursing homes, participated in the local heart walk, Christmas caroling at local nursing homes, Santa House (raising money for abused children), Pat’s Kids (abused and underprivileged children, organized a secret Santa through her work for an underprivileged child and children, and the Humane Society.
She is an accomplished ballroom dancer and has performed multiple dance exhibitions, a member of the Paradise Alley Players acting club and has had various roles in local plays, is a private investigator, enjoys ballroom dancing, sewing /designing pageant and wedding attire and has recently become an entrepreneur by starting her own business in this area. Belinda also enjoys traveling, scrapbooking, shopping and cooking/baking when she has the time. She cherishes and adores her granddaughter, Alexa who is two. She enjoys spending time with her and enjoying the simple and beautiful moments of childhood and being able to be close so those moments are numerous.
